Hello
again instructors! In an effort to make ASHI a stronger membership
organization, research has shown that there is a need to increase
the instructional theory and knowledge base of people who teach
emergency care and to improve evaluation procedures and outcomes.
As a result, ASHI is requiring all current I-Ts to take an online
exam in order to ensure mastery of the fundamentals and a common
instructional knowledge basis. The online exam is based on the new
ASHI Instructor Development Course (IDC).
We have added
a link to the Instructor trainers test & new IDC materials
on the instructor
forum. Login to the instructor
forum and scroll down to the "light orange" section
titled Instructor-Trainers. There you will find
the new IDC powerpoint for teaching instructor courses, you will
find the order link for the IDC instructor guide ($25), and the
order link for the IDC student manual ($15). They are now requiring
an IDC instructor manual for every I-T and a student manual for
every person the IDC teaches. Those manuals may be ordered from
your training center, Safety Services.
In order for
you to keep your I-T status, ASHI has required that you purchase
& study the IDC instructor manual and student manual(s) then
take the online test. A link for the test is on the instructor
forum website. I have taken my test and found that as long as
you study the manuals, you will not have any problem passing the
test. ASHI has set up this testing process to allow you to take
the test as many times as necessary to pass. YOU MUST
pass this test by JULY 31st, 2007, or lose your I-T status!
There is NO extension to complete this testing process.
In order to
aleviate any concerns and to answer all your questions in a public
forum, I have arranged 3 conference calls on 3 different dates.
If I have not gotten your cell number and current email address
for notifications please contact teresa
woodin and give her your info: name current mailing address,
cell number, email address, and phone number you anticipate participating
on the conference call. We will get you set up for the notifications
10 minutes prior to the call starting. Dates for the conference
calls are:
June 4th,
2007 @ 6:00p.m.
June 7th, 2007 @ 7:00p.m.
June 8th, 2007 @ 1:00p.m.
I have set
up these calls at different dates and times to attempt to accomodate
as many of your schedules as possible. I do not anticipate that
any of these calls will be longer than 1 hour each. Hope to "hear"
you there!
